We have now entered into the 7th month of this year. Boy has time flown by. Are you closer to the goals you set for this year? Have you given up? Are you just not as focused as you were at the start of the New Year? Well go back to the drawing board, look at what you wrote and start again.

Life can be soooooooooo busy…. I mean really busy, to the point where our purpose can get away from us. I know this because I am guilty of it as well. When we are faced with so many things on our to-do list, we shy away from adding GOD as a priority and keep him on the use as needed table. However, when we clear our to-do list, and become alert, that’s when we want to squeeze in some alone time or when things are chaotic in our lives, then we MAKE time. Does this sound familiar, don’t think you’re alone. SO many of us struggle with this daily. But, I come barring a reminder that sometimes the busyness of life can be a distraction to your purpose. One of my prayer sisters spoke a few weeks ago about staying connected, and let me tell you, it was such a blessing for others to realize how connected they are NOT and change their schedules accordingly to include GOD first. As I played this topic over and over again in my head, GOD purposed me to discuss how consuming the wrong things can damage your future.

As Christians, we must be attentive to the things we allow in our hearts, minds, and spirits. Scripture tells us in Proverbs 4:23 to guard our hearts above all else, for it determines the course of life. Whether it be food, friends, what we read, television, or what we listen to, EVERYTHING play a vital role in our walk. Let me use food for example. If we constantly digest fried, unhealthy, greasy, fatty foods, you know what will happen? We will clog up our arteries and limit the supply of blood to our hearts. The same goes with sweets, sugars, and other chemically injected foods. We set ourselves up for diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and a plethora of other diseases that are all created by simply indulging in bad food choices. Now compare that component to the spirit. If you are constantly around people who engage in negative activities, lie, commit adultery, lust, and other things, those spirits of sin connects with you and although they may not come out the way they were seen, it produces bad behavior in you. Have you ever wondered why some Christians attend church services Sunday after Sunday and you can’t see the evidence of their faith based on their lifestyle? My logic is this, they are clogged with negative energy, behaviors, and customs that will not change simply by hearing the word 10% out of their week. You have to incorporate the word daily, filling up your mind, your soul with him daily. Otherwise you will remain empty and clueless as to why you can’t see change. We must rid our bodies of toxic chemicals so we do not dehydrate our souls.

I do understand the bigger problem though. We have become accustomed to that inconsistent behavior. Somewhere down the line, sin became the norm. It’s hard when you have adapted to the only thing you knew as truth. But I am here serving as a witness that you can transition, IF you want to.  Remove those negative components day by day and replace them with positive things. Now don’t try to cold turkey it unless you know without a shadow of a doubt that you can handle it, but take it one day at a time. Remove the bad foods, bad friends, bad television shows, bad music, and replace them with healthier food choices, godly friends (one that will support you on this journey), positive television shows, and inspirational radio broadcast. However you do it, know that it will come with withdrawals. But remain rooted in your word and HE (GOD) will give you the desires of your heart. Please remember “you have already won a victory because the spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world-1 John 4:4”.

My prayer is that you accept your new walk with confidence, boldness, and with faith.
